About Me

Hi! My name is Allisa Giannini and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist with almost 10 years working with children and families. I have a background in child development and enjoy working with little ones and their families to increase attachment and promote healthy development. I wrote my Master's thesis on attachment and am interested in helping young families to establish healthy attachment at an early age. I also work with moms who may be suffering from peri or post partum depression. I welcome parents to work with me individually around parenting concerns, life transitions and loss of identity. I am trained in Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) and other parenting methods to help my clients increase attachment, communication, and family harmony. In addition to working with young children, I work with school age children, teens, young adults, and women.  I am happy to work individually or in family sessions as needed.

Experience

I have worked as a First 5 therapist, a K-8 school based therapist, a clinic based therapist for children, teens, young adults, families and women, a clinical case manager for teens with Severe Emotional Disturbance, and I currently am in private practice. I have wide-ranging experience working with children, teens, families, young adults, and women and welcome the opportunity to help you or your family with whatever struggles you may currently be facing.

My therapeutic style is integrative, which means I pull from many different theories so as to match my style with each individual I work with. Some of the theories I find most helpful working with children and families are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (including CBT, TF-CBT, and Exposure Therapy), Play and Art Therapy, Family systems theory, attachment theory, and psychodynamic theory. I use play therapy and art therapy as a way to help children express feelings, develop coping skills, and increase problem solving skills. I usually focus on problem solving, communication, anger management skills, relationship skills and healthy feeling expression when working with teens.

Throughout my career as a MFT, I have been continually amazed by the resilience and strength of human beings and feel honored to be included in their healing process.
